I will not vote for a Democrat! Part 1

With the 2020 general elections fast approaching, I must confess, it is beyond my ability to understand how anyone could vote for a Democrat, for any office.  This new multi-part blog stream will cover my reasons for not voting for any Democrat, no matter the office.

I hope you find this post meaningful.

Thomas Johnson

Is President Trump a perfect picture of class and restraint? No, that would not accurately describe him. Does President Trump allow his emotions to run away at times when he sends Tweet after Tweet? Yes, he does. Does President Trump tend to make even his greatest supporters squirm with the things he sometimes says? Yes, you bet he does. Does President Trump offer the most moral background? Nope, he sure does not.

President Trump is a saint when compared to any national politician on the left. There is a massive gulf between the left and right regarding the path they believe the USA should take. Let us have a closer look.

Many believe abortion is an old issue that shouldn’t be raised, innumerable people on the left will say we have greater matters to contend with, the GOP should let the issue go and focus on other, greater topics, which is nonsense.

Every person reading this post, and every person who has lived (and currently lives) in this world, has started as a zygote (after conception), which is an undisputed scientific fact—we all start the same way (sperm meets egg, etc.). Let us not belittle zygotes, at that early stage, all genetic (DNA) information needed to make a human baby is already present. Every human goes through this same stage and they have complete genetic information from the beginning. The zygote is a fast stage, which then becomes a blastocyst, and then an embryo, etc. During those early days and weeks, few women have any knowledge they are pregnant, yet a new human life is flourishing and growing.

Unborn babies will continue to grow and flourish in normal phases and cycles until one day he/she is born. Those babies are the most vulnerable persons on earth—they can do nothing, say nothing to save themselves from the cruel and vile practice of abortion. One moment the baby is there, happily growing toward birth, then the next moment (bam!) they are killed, gone, deleted. Science proves this out, we do not need to hold conjectures—every human being we know has gone through this same process, the difference is, they weren’t killed along the way, they were allowed to live.

Think about the concept of choosing who gets to live and who will be killed. Does anyone of faith think God supports and cherishes his innocent unborn babies being killed for doing nothing other than existing? In the USA alone, since Roe v. Wade, our nation has slaughtered (that is the proper term) more than 65,000,000 unborn babies—equal to the population of nearly twenty-eight states today. I’ll repeat—we have wiped out a population equal to nearly twenty-eight states (28!). Please, stop, think about this, what if the following states no longer held any population:

Alabama, Louisiana, Kentucky, Oregon, Oklahoma, Connecticut, Utah, Iowa, South Carolina, Nevada, Arkansas, Mississippi, Kansas, New Mexico, Nebraska, Idaho, West Virginia, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Maine, Montana, Rhode Island, Delaware, South Dakota, North Dakota, Alaska, Vermont, Wyoming

To offer a visual of this horrendous situation, I used an interactive online map of the USA (Go to: https://www.amcharts.com/visited_states/). The map below shows states representing the (equivalent population) of the aborted population since Roe v. Wade shaded in gray. As you can see, it is a massive portion of the country.

The present-day combined population of those states shaded gray (in the map above) is about 67,000,000 people, the near equivalent to the total number of unborn babies killed through abortion since Roe v. Wade (in the USA). 28 states!

The sheer magnitude of our national and moral loss to abortion is incomprehensible. Compare our abortion losses to several horrible events in history. World War I – 65 million died. World War II – 80 million died, including six million slaughtered in the Holocaust. Mao Zedong – 45 million died. Stalin – 20-60 million died. Spanish flu – 20-50 million died. In the USA (alone), through LEGAL abortion, we have either exceeded or numerically equaled the deaths of all those events. We are defined, as a nation, by such extreme losses.

The Biden/Harris ticket offers the most extremist pro-abortion platform ever. Go HERE for more details. Vice President Biden is a Catholic. This is what the Church (in the Catechism) states about abortion (Biden stands against the teachings of the Church regarding abortion):

2270 Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person – among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.

2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish.

God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.

2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. “A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae ,” “by the very commission of the offense,” and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

2273 The inalienable right to life of every innocent human individual is a constitutive element of a civil society and its legislation:

“The inalienable rights of the person must be recognized and respected by civil society and the political authority. These human rights depend neither on single individuals nor on parents; nor do they represent a concession made by society and the state; they belong to human nature and are inherent in the person by virtue of the creative act from which the person took his origin. Among such fundamental rights one should mention in this regard every human being’s right to life and physical integrity from the moment of conception until death.”

“The moment a positive law deprives a category of human beings of the protection which civil legislation ought to accord them, the state is denying the equality of all before the law. When the state does not place its power at the service of the rights of each citizen, and in particular of the more vulnerable, the very foundations of a state based on law are undermined. . . . As a consequence of the respect and protection which must be ensured for the unborn child from the moment of conception, the law must provide appropriate penal sanctions for every deliberate violation of the child’s rights.”

2274 Since it must be treated from conception as a person, the embryo must be defended in its integrity, cared for, and healed, as far as possible, like any other human being.

Prenatal diagnosis is morally licit, “if it respects the life and integrity of the embryo and the human fetus and is directed toward its safe guarding or healing as an individual. . . . It is gravely opposed to the moral law when this is done with the thought of possibly inducing an abortion, depending upon the results: a diagnosis must not be the equivalent of a death sentence.”

I do not understand how anyone could vote for a Democrat knowing they are radically pro-abortion. Considering the issue of abortion separate from all other topics, the continued slaughter of innocent unborn babies must stop. How can we think of ourselves as moral and upright people when we kill 3,000 innocents every day? How can we believe God will bless us when we so many of us rabidly fight to continue slaughtering the unborn?

Think about this in the context of this 2020 national election cycle. We have been journeying through the ravages of the coronavirus pandemic with more than 175,000 people (official listings) having died from the virus—it is truly horrible that we lost even one person, though those deaths are not willful human acts, they are acts of nature, and it is well known that once such viruses are in the general population, they are nearly impossible to contain. Unlike the ravages caused by the coronavirus, we willfully choose to kill innocent unborn babies. Since the pandemic began, we have lost (officially) 175,000 people to the virus, yet in that same timeframe, we have killed 450,000 unborn babies through abortion. We have slaughtered two and one-half times the number of virus deaths through abortion, than to the virus, and every day 3,000 more innocents are killed. By the time one week passes for us, 21,000 unborn babies will have been slaughtered.

To my fellow Catholics: What in the world are you thinking? How can you support the slaughter of innocents that continues unabated? How can you vote for any person who thinks it is morally licit to kill innocents? The faith you hold stands strongly against abortion and has throughout its 2,000 year history. There is NO excuse to support any politician who will protect or advance the cause of slaughtering the innocents. Do you not understand the Church is so firm on this issue, that it declares anyone “…who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae ,” “by the very commission of the offense,” and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. There are many issues today that might cry out to Heaven, yet can any issue raise to the level of legal abortion (65,000,000 dead and adding 3,000 every day)?

Anyone with a discerning sense can see our political leaders today have little to offer in terms of moral integrity. President Trump is no exception; however, as  as the President of the USA, he has proved to be far more productive than anyone had the right to expect. And the President’s record on life has been a wonderful and productive surprise–as well as his support for many other moral issues not related to abortion (for example, he has been a staunch supporter of all churches, unlike his counterparts on the left).

As for politicians on the left (Democrats), we find they are extraordinarily and perpetually corrupt, they lie, obviate, cheat, attempt to steal at incredible rates, and what is known of their political lives leaves us wondering: will there ever be anyone on the political left who are truth-tellers? The Democrats battle beyond any normal measure to continue the slaughter of innocent unborn babies. They claim to be the party of the light, yet their actions against life (and against people of faith) reveal their agenda is pure darkness.

How are we to choose people to vote for when both parties offer such imperfect people? I believe the first thing to acknowledge is that every person is imperfect, there was but one person in all history (Jesus Christ) who was perfect (and He was crucified). All of the billions of others who have walked this planet are imperfect. This means we must not attempt to vote for a Deity-in-Chief, for no human is perfect, no person lives a life of complete righteousness–no one.

If we acknowledge no person is devoid of human imperfections, then the only path we have to make our voting choices is to consider what each politician stands for politically, what they intend to do while in office, what laws and actions do they support, what platforms or agendas do they support, how will the country improve if any given person is elected. Those are the basic rubrics of how to choose people to vote for assuming no person truly has a moral high ground. We know the left supports abortion at near rabid levels, while the right has always fought to rid this land of the legal slaughter of the innocents. This one issue is enough for me to never vote for a Democrat.

In a previous post, I discussed the possibility that God does not want the USA to return to its pre-pandemic normal. If you give serious thought to the horror of millions dying through legal abortion, can anyone argue that the Lord approves of where we stand regarding human life? Why would God want us to return to “that” normal?

In future parts, I will discuss many other reasons why I will not, and cannot vote for Democrats.
